A Brookhaven Residence
I
would describe the style as derived from Tudor Gothic Revival period of the
late eighteen hundreds. The roof over the front entry was set a steeper pitch
of eighteen over twelve in order to fit in with this style and give the house
a more European look. It has the old English brickwork pattern with white
mortar
http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/Homework/houses/walls/. An
English Tudor drip cap was fabricated from high quality pre-cast concrete, to
form a lintel, and wrapped around the head of each window on the front of the
house. The windows were set up in a cross pattern with square transoms, again
to give it a more European look. A small leaded glass window was added to the
right of the entry door to further add to this look.
A copper roof
with heavy timber brackets was added to the front entry to protect the heavy
solid door. The stairway in the foyer is reversed from your typical house and
gives the house a very different fell as you enter.
In the year 2000
I was approached by the third owner of the house to add a new bedroom addition
over the garage. This enhanced the front of the garage with a large shed
dormer and broke a large empty roof area over the garage.
